I obtained my B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering with Honours from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, and later earned my Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences from Kyoto University. My research focuses on developing advanced finite element methods (FEM), including space-time FEM, stabilized FEM, and variational multiscale FEM. I apply these techniques to critical challenges in soil mechanics, such as the dynamic and seismic response of dams and levees, erosion in earth dams, and surface wave propagation in soils. My long-term research goal is to integrate multiscale theory into soil mechanics, bridging the gap between microscale and macroscale soil behavior. By enhancing our understanding of these interactions, I hope to contribute to more accurate and reliable models for geotechnical applications. Beyond research, I enjoy exploring computer programming languages and discussing topics in functional analysis and the calculus of variations, particularly in relation to how finite element methods operate. I look forward to engaging with students and researchers who share an interest in these areas.
